1. Introduction
The network diagram in Figure 1 shows two offices. The office labeled “Main Office” uses an
Avaya S8500 Media Server with an Avaya G650 Media Gateway. The office labeled “Branch
Office” uses Avaya IP telephones.
The Extreme Networks Aspen 8810 is used in the main office, and the Avaya C364T-PWR
Converged Stackable Switch is used in the branch office. The Aspen and the Avaya C364T-
PWR are connected through a 1000 Base-X (Fiber) or 100 Base-T link. The G48P PoE module
on the Extreme Networks Aspen and the Avaya C364T-PWR Converged Stackable Switch are
used to provide inline power to the Avaya IP telephones.
