Main unit and expansion unit installation
You typically install the main unit and expansion units in the same manner. Make sure you install
the expansion units close enough to the main unit so you can connect the supplied 5 m (16 ft)
expansion cable between the expansion unit and main unit.
Nortel provides three methods of installing the BCM50 units:
• rack-mount
•wall-mount
• desktop-mount
For more information, see the chapter “Installing the main unit” in the Installation and
Maintenance Guide.
Rack-mount installation
To install a BCM50 unit (main unit or expansion unit) in an equipment rack, you need the optional
rack-mount kit (NT9T6325). This kit provides the parts to mount up to four BCM50 units in a
standard 19-inch equipment rack.
Caution: To keep the BCM50 system operating at the optimal internal temperature, keep
the top, sides, and rear clear of obstructions and away from the exhaust of other equipment.
Do not place any objects, except other BCM50 units, on top of a main unit.
