VTCPD Application Programming
P0602483 Ver: 03.41 Page 73
If the applications set the message ID, the applications must ensure that no two
requests use the same message ID — in this configuration, VTCPD does not verify the
message ID. If two outstanding requests use the same message ID, the results are
unpredictable.
VTCPD can be started when some or all of the host specifications are unavailable.
However, applications can not use these host connections until additional information
is associated with the links. An administrative application can be used to establish the
remaining host information (see Establishing or Changing the Host Specifications
on page 79.)
The applications can be set up to reserve a connection and then solicit data from the
host (see Soliciting Host Data on page 73.), or to wait for a host to send data (see Host
Driven Applications on page 76.)
For configurations that support multiple message formats or systems that use a backup
VTCPD, the application must be set to communicate with the appropriate instance of
VTCPD (see Configurations That Require Multiple VTCPD on page 91.)
Soliciting Host Data
The application can be set to solicit host data (see Application-Defined Mode on page
29.)
