VTCPD Application Programming
P0602483 Ver: 03.41 Page 91
Configurations That Require Multiple VTCPD
Each instance of VTCPD supports a single message format. If the Avaya Media
Processing Server must communicate with TCP/IP hosts using multiple formats, the
system must be configured with an instance of VTCPD for each format.
By default, Resource blocks that contact VTCPD broadcast requests to all VTCPD
attached to the same VMST. If the system uses multiple VTCPD, the application must
specify the particular instance of VTCPD (see Communicating With the Host on
page 72.)
Specifying Which VTCPD
If the system supports multiple VTCPD for multiple message formats, each VTCPD is
configured to with a unique name. The VTCPD names are specified in
$ASEHOME/etc/services. The command vtcpd -n <name> is used to
specify the VTCPD (see Attaching to VMST on page 34.)
Specify the VTCPD name in the Resource block that contacts VTCPD. For example:
Using the VTCPD Port Number
VTCPD returns the port number as condition data associated with gotres. The
format of the condition data is XXX:YYY:ZZZ where XXX is the connection number,
YYY the slot number, and ZZZ the port number.
The following demonstrates an application that uses the port number to send data to
the appropriate VTCPD.
